Anyone whose come across my LinkedIn page would have seen that I am currently employed at the second largest aged care provider in WA. However what’s unusual is not that a 23 year old professional would choose a career in aged care, but rather that 23 year old professional would love his career in aged care. large part of the reason why i love my job is because of what i’m called. If you haven’t guessed by now its not Digital Marketing Guru, or Social Media Expert: it’s Innovator @ Large.
Sounds fancy doesn’t it. However when all the fan fair and glamour has cleared i have a very difficult task ahead of me. Aged Care is an industry that’s fast in need of a makeover as the baby boomer generation are next in line to be its benefactors. I have therefore been tasked with helping the organisation become more online literate and start finding pathways to strengthen its online presence. However this is easier said than done. As with most things online in Perth, it’s a continuous uphill battle of fighting company culture, age gap issues, bureaucracy, social fears, and an inexplicable predilection for press clippings: one can only wonder if i will succeed.
I started a tumblr blog called “Trials of an Innovator” which is dedicated to documenting my time as an Innovator and discuss my views on workplace innovation and what is required for it be done properly. So raise your champagne glasses and give a toast to Innovation. Oh yeah and don’t forget to check out my blog.
