Having spent a year as a graduate contractor working for Linc Integrated, an established Marketing and Communications company, I gained a lot of experience in the fields of Social Media and SEO. During the course of the year I was a part of many teams that executed numerous Social Media Campaigns for a diverse range of challenging and engaging clients including WALGS and WASF. In this role I learnt how to develop digital marketing and social media strategies suited to clients needs. I also learnt how to deal with tough clients who didn’t understand the mechanisms of Social Media.
Working with Linc as a part time contractor gave me the skills and confidence to branch out on my own and start consulting privately. My most notable client was Amana Living, which is the second biggest aged care provider in the state. My experience with them led to an offer for a 6-month part time contract where I would act as an in-house consultant on all matters Social Media and the development of online content. In this role I learnt how to deal with CEO’s and senior managers and how to effectively communicate Social media objectives to them.
I have a huge passion for digital marketing because it speaks to many parts of me. I have a sanguine personality and the idea of connecting people to the world using innovative online and traditional methods is truly fascinating. I have a hunger to learn and I’m always looking for new ways to gain knowledge of how to improve my skills as a digital marketer. As a result I completed my Hubspot Certification in Inbound Marketing which covered a wide range of digital marketing techniques from understanding Google Algorithm changes to leveraging social media to improve your companies message.
In my personal time I love to blog. I have a Tumblog one on workplace innovation because I find that a major barrier to clients adopting digital techniques is their inability to innovate and change their ways from within. I’m also currently in the process of developing another on WordPress, which I will use to discuss various topics surrounding digital marketing. Further to my blog writing I also co-wrote an eBook for aged care CEO’s to learn how to leverage Social Media to aid their organisations. Towards the end of the year I hope to have completed my first solo book on how organisations should be using social media.
